We’d like to formally welcome our new company chairman Chris Singer.
Former Assistant Chief Constable of Warwickshire & West Mercia Police –
Chris joined the Police service with Devon and Cornwall Police in 1986 where he rose through the ranks undertaking roles in local policing, as an authorised firearms officer, a detective in the Child Protection Team and in intelligence.
He was also seconded to the Princes’ Trust as a team leader, enabling him to follow one of his passions – helping young people to succeed.
He led on custody provision, playing a key role in the development of national doctrine for the safer handing of detainees and led the introduction of full time medical care embedded in custody units.
Under an international media spotlight, he was responsible for the Devon and Cornwall policing operation for the arrival of the Olympic Torch in 2012, and then formed part of the command cohort at the Olympic Sailing event in Weymouth working closely with private security companies and the Military to deliver a safe and secure Olympic Sailing event.
Holding command in Torbay and Plymouth, Chris worked closely with key partners to develop highly effective relationships that helped keep communities safe. He later held a unique position as a seconded member of the executive team at Plymouth County Council, helping to identify and reap gains from stronger collaboration across the public and voluntary sector.
A highly experienced senior commander, Chris held command for the response to significant incidents, including joint command for the multi-agency operation in response to significant flooding in 2014, engaging with Government through COBRA and planning short notice high profile visits of the Prime Minister and other VIPs.
Chris joined Warwickshire and West Mercia Police in 2015 as Assistant Chief Constable responsible for the Protective Services portfolio covering Major and Serious Crime, Special Branch, specialist operations including roads policing, public order, firearms and dogs, covert authorities and protecting vulnerable people.
He ran significant and sensitive policing operations, including major public order policing involving far right demonstrations and operations relating to national security.
A specialist firearms commander, Chris delivered over 100 firearms operations during 2016/17 for both pre-planned and dynamic incidents involving the deployment of armed officers.
During 2016/17 Chris served as Temporary Deputy Chief Constable for West Mercia Police, delivering improved performance in key areas and engaging closely with the Chief Constable and Police and Crime Commissioner to deliver the Police and Crime plan.
Having served for 31 years, Chris retired in July 2017 to take up appointment with UK Protection as company chairman and senior consultant whilst also taking time to enjoy his passion for sailing and spending time with his family.
